A/B testing or split testing is a crucial step in email marketing, when it comes to fine tuning your marketing efforts so you can reach potential prospects and customers in the couse of time.  Consider these 5 points while running A/B testing:

1. Test your subject lines to pick the one that gets you the higher open rate.  Create two different versions of your subject line and send them to two groups of your email list and see which one gets the better open rate.

2. Test the days which attract better open rates.  Send your email newsletter to two different groups on two different days and see which one works better.

3. Test the times which give you better open rates.  Send your email at two different time slots to determine their open rates.  You can find out which part of the day is more conducive to your business.

4. Test the call-to-action (CTA) buttons to see which button works better.  You can send a group of recipients to your e-book download page and send another group to your business website and see which button draws better response.

5. Testing your email content is very important to find out the veracity of your content.  Just do your best to alter the style of your content and its appearance slightly to see which format attracts more readers.  Send one without visual appeal and send one with visual appeal to test email content.
